who is the Rev. Canon Dr. Duke Vipperman?

Duke and DeborahThe Rev. Canon Dr. Duke Vipperman was the Incumbent (pastor) of The Anglican Church of the Resurrection, in Toronto’s East End.

In 2000, The Rez launched into a form of church planting Duke calls “a reboot” in which members from one congregation are seeded into another and the two become one missional part of the body of Christ.

His Doctor of Ministry project (2007) from Trinity School for Ministry, Ambridge, Pa. was on Church Planting and planting Failures in Toronto 1990-2005. He was awarded a Master of Divinity from the same school in 1983.

He was an active member of Diocesan Council (2006-2009), the York-Scarborough Area Council (2004-2016). Previously he was Associate Rector, Little Trinity Church, Toronto (1991-1999); Rector, Trivitt Memorial, Exeter & St. John’s By-the-Lake, Grand Bend (1986-1990); Assistant Curate, St George’s, London (1983-1986). He was also Vice-chair of Barnabas Anglican Ministries (anglican Evangelicals). He is a also Companion of the Northumbria [dispersed monastic] Community (2010) and a member of “The Toronto Carrying Place” (2008-present) a local Northumbria Community group.

He is married to Deborah with three adult children: Donovan, John, and Michael. Duke played guitar in worship at the Rez and also sitar at the Yeshu Satsang held at the Rez.
