The Rez is a mixed economy church – meaning we do things the old way AND meet in new ways. too. .A full two thirds of those who walk with us belong to one or more of our groups described below – and there are many more groups. These allow us to get to know each other better, grow in our personal faith, and become servants of a world in need. They take a variety of forms from prayer groups to study groups to fellowship events, to task-oriented groups.
small groups are an important part of our life together. There’s likely a small group in your neighbourhood — maybe even on your street. For more information on starting or joining a small group, contact pastor duke duke[dot]vipperman[at]sympatico[dot]ca
fresh expressions are alternative ways of doing church for those who would not likely come to the regular sunday morning gig. Each year more than 50 of those who are are regular part of our life, come only to one or other of our fresh expressions.
cell churches are those small groups that have four qualities: they welcome each other, worship together, reflect on the word of God in the Bible and have some form of witness/ mission as part of their life.
the toronto carrying place is part of our cell church network and also represents a dispersed gathering of the monastic Northumbria Community, UK. For more information on The Toronto Carrying Place, talk to pastor duke.
youth with a mission open sky cafe is new to us and starting up this january. It is not our event but we are glad to welcome seekers who want to sit of the feet of Jesus soaking in prayer.
yeshua satsang is not actually our event – hey, its not even a Fresh Expression either – it is what it is – but we gladly host this East Indian truth gathering Chris Hale and Miranda Stone are our leaders, Pastor Duke just plays sitar while the rest of us sing Indian bhajans and kirtans in Hindi and Sanskrit. The monthly two hours we spend on Fridays in worship is the most aesthetically pleasing thing many of us can recall. Come. Shaanti
